Neighbourhood Action Committee

We are a volunteer organization working to make our neighbourhood a better place to live, work and operate a business.  We work on getting and providing neighbourhood input on local traffic safety and calming, land use planning and development, City initiatives, and public art and celebrations.  You are welcome to come and listen, or join in the fun!

We meet on the first non-holiday Monday each month except July and August.   Our next meeting is:

Monday, September 11th at  7:00 PM -  901 Kings Rd - enter by the double glass doors on the east end (left side) of the Community Centre 

Agenda 

1.     Welcome and Introductions
2.     Approval of Agenda (Chair)
3.     Review and approval of June 2017 meeting minutes (Chair)
4.     Hillside-Quadra precinct discussion (re: public land—BC Housing, CRD, SD 61)

A discussion about the future of the publically owned land adjacent to the intersection of Hillside and Blanshard, including 950 Kings (CRHD), Evergreen Terrace (BC Housing) and the SJ Willis lower field (SD 61).

·       Jonathan Tinney, City of Victoria, Director, Sustainable Development and Community Planning

Meeting format:  comments from landowners, question and answer period with community members, and general discussion on community vision (as time allows).

5.     New executive members for NAC

·       In order for the Hillside-Quadra Neighbourhood Action Committee to continue to function, as the official CALUC committee, and as a voice for the neighbourhood on other issues, new volunteers are required.  Can you assist?  Several executive members are stepping down this year.   The executive is vetted by the community association (Downtown Blanshard Advisory Committee who runs the Quadra Village Community Centre) at the AGM (September 25th)

6.     City Hall Update (Councillor Ben Isitt & City of Victoria staff liaison Gary Pemberton)--if time allows
7.     Community Check-In - an opportunity to share ideas and concerns (All) if time allows
